PSI1013 | IT Application for Entrepreneurs
This introductory foundation unit aims to give the student an insight into the history, structure, operations and uses of information technology and their impact on society. This will be complemented by hands-on use of computers to utilize the office applications package. Through these experiences, students will gain a basic understanding of the uses of computers and the skills necessary to become an entrepreneur.
This course covers the phases of systems development lifecycle (SDLC) that are systems, planning, systems analysis, systems evaluation and selection, system design, system
conversion and implementation as well as other systems development approaches.
This course focuses on the finance with an emphasis on the basic concepts in managerial finance. It begins with the introduction of managerial finance, financial markets and financial
instruments. The course also introduces the components of the financial statements and cash flows, the analytical tools in evaluating a firm’s financial performance and the concept of
time value of money. It also introduces the basic concepts of risk and return and the capital budgeting techniques. The course concluded with the discussion on cost of capital required
to ensure profitability of the firm.
